Do You Exercise When You’re Sick?

I’ve got congestion, a runny nose and an occasional cough. Do you continue riding when you’re in this condition?

For the last two weeks, I’ve been “kinda” sick. I’m sick, but it’s not anything crippling. In fact, I can still do pretty much everything I’d like to do including mountain biking. But I’d really like to get over it as soon as possible.

So for all you doctors, nurses, know-it-all’s… ummm I mean knowledgable health professionals, is it ok to still go mountain biking even though you’re sick? I feel fine on the rides (well, a little more tired than normal and with a lot more to spit) but before and after feels pretty crappy.

I’ve decided to skip my next planned ride on Thursday morning and just take it easy until Saturday. That gives me three full days to recuperate. Hopefully it’ll be enough time to get over whatever it is that’s bothering me and to be ready for a longer ride on Saturday.
