Motobecane Fly Pro-Is HERE!

Posted by RL Policar On May - 23 - 2007

Yesterday I received the new Motobecane Fly Pro.

After assembling the bike, I wanted to weigh it because it felt pretty light. I remember Joe M. Mkt Dir of Motobecane mentioned that this bike was around 23lbs.

Just look at this thing…its pretty sweet!

The Fly Pro is equipped with some of the latest XT and Deore parts.

The bike we got actually has better specs than what the website shows. We have XT shifters and rear derailleur, Rock Shox SID, Vuelta Wheels, Ritchey seat post and stem.

RL’s Riding Tip

Posted by RL Policar On May - 22 - 2007

Last Thursday I had a rough day. I went to bed on Wednesday night around 9:30pm, woke up at 1:30am had to be at work by 3am, work until 12pm, drive out 40 miles from my home to go to a meeting after work then drive back home. Then at 6:30pm, we had a night ride.

I was basically running on fumes that whole day. On our ride, I totally sucked. I was so worn out from not sleeping and running around, so much so that I was hating riding.

So here’s my tip. Get plenty of sleep!

Tifosi Dolomite

Posted by RL Policar On May - 21 - 2007

Our friend Shannon of Tifosi Optics sent me a pair of the Dolomite to review.

Here’s the specs:

Lens Features

* Enhanced Visual System [EVS] Polycarbonate Decentered Lens for Optical Clarity
* Glare Guardâ„¢ Glare Reducer to Decrease Eye Fatigue
* 100% UVA & UVB Protection
* Ventilated Lens for Increased Airflow & Anti-fog
* Three Lenses Included for Various Light Conditions

Weight: 26 grams
Fit: Medium to Large Faces

Here’s a picture of me wearing them at the Urban Commuter Expo. Photo Courtesy of Russ Roca.
See how dark they get. The lenses change from light to a darker tint. These glasses work so well that after I walk indoors, from being outdoors, I forget that they’re even on my face.

Honestly, when I first got them I thought that they were too light (tint shade). But once I got them out doors, they got pretty dark, about 8 seconds or so. Now I wear them everyday, driving, to riding. They look cool enough to wear as sport glasses and fancy enough to wear with your office attire.

Ibex Trophy Single Speed

Posted by RL Policar On May - 21 - 2007

Our new Trophy SS comes to life with all the right stuff for those who want an aluminum frame single-speed MTB with suspension fork and disc brakes.

The IBEX Trophy SS is built to take a beating, yet its’ state-of-the-art frame provides tremendous rigidity while maintaining a light, responsive feel. Trophy frames are built to be rigid without sacrificing comfort or great handling. Racebred geometry is ideal for fast cross-country and precision trail riding. Elegantly tapered chain-stays add just enough suppleness to cushion the rear wheel while keeping acceleration power on the ground where it belongs. The large-bore down-tube, with bi-oval shaping for exptended weld footings, gives the Trophy frame a slim look and provides a rock-solid foundation that keeps everything in place even in the roughest conditions. Larger riders need not worry about flex while lighter riders will appreciate the light weight, rigid feel and “tossability” of the tightly spec’d geometry. All-in-all, the Trophy frame represents our finest effort in hardtail MTB technology.

The Manitou Sliver Super fork makes light work of the roughest trails with air, rebound & lockout features that allow you to fine-tune the ride or lock it for most effecitnt climbing… an important issue on a single-speed. Add the stopping power of Avid’s legendary BB-7 discs along with superb appointments all around and you have one fine SS rig!
