My life flashed before my eyes!!!

I have to share the most bizarre moment in my riding history!

This past thursday I went riding with my friend Danielle at the fully loop. It was a hot evening but we were having a good time. As we were riding along the trail we were taking an easy pace side by side, discussing high school sports. We were just chit chattin the way girls tend to do out there, nothing out of the ordinary.

So I glanced up, and looked straight ahead because I should be paying attention to what’s ahead of me. That’s always a good thing while mountain biking. And OH MY GOODNESS…there was this creature charging at me…it felt like it was running at 60miles an hour!!!! Ok, so it was no where near 60miles an hour but it was FAST. I thought I was going to die. This animal was running right at me with a purpose.

And what was this beast of an animal you ask? Was it a mountain lion? A coyote maybe? A wild hog? No.

It was a sheep!!!!! What in the world?!?!?! Yes a big, overgrown, furry sheep with a red leash on, charging head on towards me and he is not stopping!!!

You have to understand we live in the middle of a big city. No farms except for at the local high school. So this sheep on the trail is rather peculiar. The strangest animal I have seen on the trail is a horse and there is one family that keeps a llama as a pet. But aside from that it’s just dogs, squirrels and cute fluffy bunnies. That’s it.

So as this animal is charging at me, with my cat like reflexes I slammed to a stop, (it was a good thing we weren’t riding very hard), and i screamed bloody murder (I am a girl, that’s what i do). All I could think is he is not stopping and this is going to really hurt!!!

By this time Danielle was out of harms way riding closer to the left side of the trail, near the fence. Lets just say she wasn’t throwing herself in front of me to save me or anything. She said she was trying to figure out what it was. All this time she was pondering over whether it was a mountain lion or llama. She was very confused.

So it turns out the sheep didn’t want to eat me afterall. That animal darted to my right and ran past me. And I think I heard him chuckling. For whatever reason that darn overgrown rodent stopped at a dog behind us and a guy grabbed his leash. The sheep owners finally caught up and beat him (just kidding animal lovers!!!). Nah, I only looked back long enough to see them get ahold of him again.

I was counting my blessings as I breathed a sigh of relief. Whoo! That was close. Danielle and I were laughing so hard! Dangerous sheep on the trails, who knew?!!?! Hahahaha.
