Randy on Footbike Trail

The Footbike Trail is definitely one of the most interesting products that I’ve have privilege to test. I’ve been riding the Footbike Trail for a few months. I’ve taken it both on and off road.

Strengths:
INTENSE WORKOUT!!! It doesn’t take long to find out that a Footbike would give you a great workout especially when you take it out on a trail. You’ll have to run, push, carry, and kick your way up a hill. But the pay off on the down hill side is awesome! Going down a steep hill on a mountain bike is always fun. But taking the same hill on the Footbike Trail is such a blast!

I had my nephew shoot a short video of me riding the Footbike Trail down a hill.

Weaknesses:
One thing I didn’t like about the Footbike Trail was the clearance or lack of.

Clearance

Without any weight on the Footbike, you only get 2 inches of clearance from the ground to the protection plate. Add my “phat arse on it, the give of the fork, and any slope or rocks on the ground takes away any clearance you had. Each time it bottomed out, threw my balance quite a bit.

Protection Plate

Testing the Footbike Trail has definitely been interesting. Riding it was always fun. Having it’s unique design turns quite a few heads. And the workout you get is unbelievable. For more information about any of the Footbike products check out FootbikeUSA.

That’s right folks, the videos we shot and edited made it to the Sea Otter Classic Home Page….AGAIN! This is the second time they’ve used our videos to showcase what you can see at the event.

The videos were a collaboration between the work of myself(footage/editing), Jeremy (photos) and Moe(videos), in other words it was a team effort. The videos they featured were of Ryan Leech’s show and the SRAM Dual Stunt Show. You can check out SeaOtterClassic.com or watch them below to relive the experience.

Solo or Groupo?

Posted by RL Policar On May - 30 - 2008

There are times that most of us have been out on the trail riding solo, and there are times when we’re riding in a big fuster cluck of a group that is just too big.

As I rode yesterday morning solo, I found that there were some good parts that I was alone and not so good. I think the benefit of riding solo is that you don’t have to wait for anyone of have them wait for you, you can go on your own pace, and you can allow yourself to get lost in the world of riding. You know, like get into a trance.

But in a big group ride, there’s also the fun of having a group pace that may push you harder than your normal riding speeds. There’s strength in numbers, having a big group scares away critters that may want to eat you. Priscilla also loves the fact that if she has a mechanical, just about everyone in the group is willing to help out. She doesn’t even have to lift a finger since there’s more than a few people already working on her bike. Great conversations are also part of a group ride. You can talk all you want about bikes, life, job, wife, kids, and etc.

So what do you think? Do you like to ride by yourself or in a big group?

Date Night

Posted by RL Policar On May - 30 - 2008

Last night I took Priscilla on a unique date that involved our bicycles. I loaded up my Xtracycle with a blanket, and a cooler full of “refreshments.” I rigged up the bikes with some lights for safety. Priscilla’s Electra was bling’d up with my Down Low Glow neon light.

We rode up to a near by park called Mountain View, set up and gazed at the stars. My camera sucks, so its not like you could really see that well, but it was a clear and cool night.

Here’s a shot of a ferris wheel at a near by Brea Carnival that’s set to take place this weekend.

We had a great time even though this was a low cost, low tech date. Sometimes it doesn’t take that much to enjoy each other’s company…a couple of bikes, a blanket and “refreshments.” You should try it too with your special person!

Posted by Jeremy Yang On May - 30 - 2008

Trek Demo, Fullerton Loop tomorrow, Saturday May 31 from 9am to 3pm.

Even if you’re not interested in buying a bike, demoing bikes is super fun. My friend Tim & I went to the last demo day here in Fullerton and had a blast riding Treks and Gary Fishers. Tim wasn’t looking for a new bike at the time but was so blown away by the ABP of the Trek Fuel EX he ended up purchasing a Trek Fuel EX 9.0 after the demo ride. Great props to our friend Matt Gutowski for all the hard work he does in setting up the demo and dialing in the bikes for the ride.

But, if you decide that you are interested in in a Trek, Gary Fisher or Lemond, check this out… particularly the last line:
