Deal Day-Sette and Pricepoint.com Branded Products

Posted by RL Policar On June - 2 - 2008

This week’s Deal Day special, we are going to visit with some products that I’ve been using from Pricepoint.com .

The first item I’d like to introduce is the Sette Reken frame that we used to build up a “Brother on a Budget” single speed. This frame is priced reasonably well, $99. I also used the Sette Single Speed kit for this project. I’ve been riding on the Reken frame for a few months now and it has quickly become my favorite bike in my stable. You’ll hear more about it on my review coming shortly.

Not the most flattering shot of my hairy legs…but I wanted to get a picture of the frame.

Another product that I’ve been happy with is the Sette Excel MTB Shoes. These shoes are a killer deal at $34.98…where else can you get some nice shoes for that price?

Last but not least is this fancy, B.O.B(brother on a budget) approved Pricepoint.com Classic Jersey. Being a husky rider, I don’t care much for club/sport fit jerseys. In fact I rarely wear jerseys at all because they make me feel like a kielbasa. The Classic Jersey fits loosely on my hulking body and is very comfy. For $20, you just can’t go wrong with it. The fabric is moisture wicking and keeps your skin nice and cool.

It has 3 large pockets in the back to help carry your stuff.

Fabric breathes really well.

Plus it has this large zipper that goes down about 3/4 of the length of the jersey.

So if you haven’t already figured it out, I am really enjoying the Sette and Pricepoint.com goods. I’m not much for spending a butt load of cash for my biking stuff in which basically does the same thing as the house branded products do.Feel free to check out more goodies at Pricepoint.com

DIYWBC 1.0

Posted by Jeremy Yang On June - 2 - 2008

Gotta check out the DIYWBC 1.0 (Do It Yourself Wooden Bicycle version 1.0).

As a product designer I work with a lot of limitations. The products should not be to experimental, not to conventional, they should be easy to massproduce yet hard to copy, the materials should be rational and low-cost yet have an exclusive look at the end. 9 out of 10 days I like that way to work limitations can be inspiring and challenging but sometimes also very frustrating.

Educated with a Bachelor in Furniture Design at Carl Malmsten CTD I love wood and as a mountain bike cyclist in my spare time I do like bikes.

The Do It Yourself Wooden Bicycle is just about everything industrial design don´t is. It is very easy to copy and reproduce. With a trashed bike to get components from and a nereby hardware store anyone can build it with normal handtools. The look is quit rough and unconventional making it safe from thieves and if you miss something on the bike like a parcel carrier just build it the way you want it. The Do It Yourself Wooden Bicycle even got a name that is to long to be commercial.

The bike can be seen as a first test version of a open source project. Please build your own, if you want drawings of the bike for an initial help just mail me at diywbc@erikbjork.com

Seen via Dirt Rag’s blog. Click here for the blog and here for the website.

I’d ride it but only in 29er form.

The Adventures of Lil’ Bryan-Fishing and Bamboo Hunting

Posted by RL Policar On June - 1 - 2008

The last time I reported about Lil’ Bryan, I mentioned that he was missing. Well I found him swimming in the washing machine…yeah I felt bad since I left him in my shorts pocket when I did laundry…So to make up for it, Lil’ Bryan and I spent some quality time this weekend.

We started off our Saturday morning by waking up at 3:45 am and dragging my 3 daughters to the Newport Beach Pier for some fishing. Lil’ Bryan likes to see where we’re going so he hopped onto the dash board but I scolded him and said that it wasn’t safe to ride with out a seat belt.

With that said, he agreed to get cozy in my overalls pocket.

Once we got the pier, we quickly got set up and Breanna caught a fish, I think it was some sort of Croaker. Our friend Brian and his kids had joined us that morning.

Lil’ Bryan wanted to get close and see the fish she caught…

He got a little too close, and fell in the bucket in which the angry fish tried to eat him! Luckily Garret saved him…

Here’s my girls, Aleah, Breanna and Alyssa in front of the Dory Fish Market next to the pier.

Lil’ Bryan felt left out, so he insisted that he got a solo shot of him…

Then later that day Breanna and I went down to the Fullerton Loop on the Xtracycle to see if we can get some bamboo for a bicycle project that I’m working on. Lil’ Bryan came along.

We found a perfect bamboo tree to pick a small piece from.

Lil’ Bryan helped picked the right one.

As the weekend rolled through, Lil’ Bryan literally went everywhere I went. In fact he was at church with me this morning, but I forgot my camera…

Next weekend we’ll be going somewhere special, so stay tuned for more Adventures with Lil’ Bryan!
