Wes Castro: Sponsored by MtnBikeRiders.com

I’d like to introduce to you a guy that is a pretty good DH racer, but also has a very inspiring life story that caught our attention.

Wes at the Nationals, 2nd place.

Here’s a little bit of info about Wes.

I started racing when I was about 10 years old racing BMX till I was 15 and football took over. I have also raced Off Road trucks and SCCA Solo II so I have always been a competitive person. As for Mountain Bikes I started this February in Fontana where I placed 9th.

I have gone on to race one more winter series race which I improved and finished 6th. In the Rock Shock Series I have taken a 2nd and 4th and I am fully committed for the rest of the series and also for the Winter Series next year.

Last year in May of 2008 I weighed 280lbs and in one year I have lost 140lbs and now weigh 140lbs I reached my goal.

So I asked Wes about his weight loss and how he stayed motivated. He told me that he set out to achieve a goal, and with the help of his family, especially his kids, he was able eat right and ride his bike towards his weight loss.

Man, I struggle with needing to lose 20lbs, but Wes lost a grip of weight…that’s like loosing a person…literally.

Wes will be joining the DH crew racing along side Moe and Joe. He’s also started training on 4X racing, so we hope to see him going against some tough competition out in Fontana.
Congrats to Wes on his life changing weight loss and for becoming part of the team.
