The Moe’s season is officially over

As I type this, I am getting ready to go get arthroscopic shoulder surgery. It looks like I fractured my shoulder on one of my practice DH runs @ Southridge.

picture of not actual crash, but of many!

I had one heck of a season, I never had so much fun racing like I did this year! I got bitten by the DH bug right after I saw our fearless Team Mom Kim “The Champ” Finch tackle the downhill runs @ SRC.

I turned to the great folks from KHS Bicycles, especially Vince Calvillo, to see if I can test their top of the line DH200 downhill rig. I figured, why not review a DH bike in real DH racing conditions?

KHS DH200 is the real deal!

Team support also made this season one for the books, RL and I created Team MtnBikeRiders.com with the purpose of sponsoring a few local folks, but we had such great results and awesome camaraderie that RL and I ended up joining the team and put a few races under our belt. Part of our team support consists of hydrating, feeding and cheering our riders. We also lined up a few sponsors such as Evomo Clothing, HossMTB, Ergon Grips, Serfas Optics, IceToolz, KHS Bicycles and Spenco gloves. These folks provided our racing team with their high quality goods, we couldn’t have done it with out them.

I am extremely proud of our Team, and sure, I am very proud of myself too. Although I may not be a “Sam Hill”, I was out there at every race. I was rewarded with a few podium finishes and the great satisfaction that not many riders try Downhill because “it is too scary”. Heck yeah it is scary, but that’s part of the adventure.

Third place over all @ the California State Championships.

I will be out for the next 6 months, that means I will be missing the entire Winter Series (I am REALLY bummed about that), but I will be there supporting the Team, 2010 should be a good year for us since all of our racers are returning. (Podiums, here we come!!!) I should be back for the California State Championships.
