Sea Otter 2010: Thomas Paatz Mtb-News.de

Posted by Jeremy Yang On April - 22 - 2010

Thomas Paatz of Mtb-News.de at Sea Otter 2010.

Uber cool guy Thomas, see previous post on Thomas from Sea Otter 2008, had flown in from Germany and was set to rent a mid-sized car. But when we saw him in the parking lot at Sea Otter, he & Jenz (sp? I apologize if I am spelling it wrong) were rocking a full size black Dodge pick-up.

Despite their protests, the rental car company insisted on upgrading them due to a lack of available mid-size cars and they were stuck with a truck that was way too big for their needs. They had a really tough time parking the truck because: 1. in Germany, their cars are generally smaller and 2. their hotel had really tight underground parking.

By the way, Jenz got a chance to ride his first 29er: my Niner Air 9. The big guy looked like a perfect for for 29 inch wheels.

EVS Sports RC-Evo Neck Protector: Preview

Posted by Moe Ramirez On April - 21 - 2010

Being a father of 2 and not being a spring chicken, racing downhill with protection is paramount for me. The good folks from EVS Sports sent us the RC-EVO neck protector to race with.

I put it on last night to see how it would fit around my neck. The RC-EVO is an XL, it fit snug but it did not give me a choking sensation, the material was also very soft, not scratchy or rough.

Here are the specs of the neck protector:

Disperses impact forces across the body, reducing clavicle injuries // Lightweight, impact absorbing composite chassis // 3-stage adjustable collar for perfect fit // Soft rubberized edges for increased comfort // Easy front entry system // Ventilated, sculpted bio-foam liner // Comfortable harness system with quick release buckles // Works with all EVS Roost Protectors

I will be racing at Woodward West this weekend with the RC-EVO, I hope that I won’t have to test it the hard way. I will have a report for you next week.
