You can also win this bike, RL called it the best bang for your buck!

I would have love to raced this event but unfortunately its on the East Coast, Roxbury NY to be exact. The MtnBikeRiders.com private plane is grounded due to that pesky volcano in Iceland so the team will be racing at Fontana this weekend. Hope to see you there!

Rider Down BBQ Reminder

Posted by RL Policar On May - 4 - 2010

Just wanted to remind all of you SoCal riders that the Rider Down Benefit BBQ is coming up on May 23rd, 2010!

The MtnBikeRiders.com Crew will be there, so if you’d like to get your picture taken with any of us, it will only cost you $100. The proceeds will benefit The Rider Down Foundation. Ok ok, I won’t charge you $100 for a photo, perhaps you can repay me by buying a burger. We’ll call it even!

Greetings from Woodward West – Tehachapi, CA

Posted by Joe Solancho On April - 24 - 2010

The Moe and I made our annual trip to Tehachapi, CA for the second leg of the 2010 California Golden State Kenda Downhill Championships. This year it appears that it will only be the two of us as our other teammates were not able to make it. After a 3hr drive from my house we arrive at Woodward West just as practice started. Weather was a cool 60 degrees, quite the opposite from last year. As a matter of fact there is still snow at the mountain just behind the venue.

The Moe armored and ready for practice.

My sled for this race is my new bike an Intense Uzzi. I finished the build late last night, just in time for our trip.

After registration The Moe and I briefly walked the course. We were surprised to see our teammate Wes “GQ” Castro. He was at the top part of the course taking pictures and video.

We had a total of four practice runs. The course is totally different from last year’s – it has rock gardens, berms, table tops, off-camber turns and a ladder. Totally FUN!!!

The Moe and I have a new approach on racing. We will attempt to bring intensity to our game and hope to do well tomorrow. Wish us luck!

MtnBiker down: A Fund Raiser Ride, Raffle and BBQ, Sunday May 23rd

Posted by RL Policar On March - 17 - 2010

Update 03-19-2010, We’re gonna have some gear generously donated by Crank Brothers & Fox Racing, so keep your eyes peeled for an update soon.  Even I don’t know what the gear will be until the box show up!  Also a fellow rider who owns a mobile automotive detailing business will be giving away a few auto details worth $150-200 depending on vehicle size!  I’ll get some more info up this coming week.

Edit – David Sanderson,

So I originally sent RL my rough draft of the following flyer for an event we’re organizing for Wes, well thru some miscommunication it got posted, though I quickly removed it, the rumor mill began!  So I’ve re-posted it, please be aware this is a rough-draft, not official yet, and we retain the right to modify the plan as necessary.

We plan to have the details set and begin selling tickets @ The Path Bike Shop, Mtnbikeriders.com and hopefully at upcoming SRC races if we can get permission.  Note, the BBQ time has been pushed back to 1pm to allow the 8am shop ride time to return, and the Prizes will likely get even better by the final draft.  Click on the photo to see in a larger size.

Rules & Regulations

Update! Thanks to some more than generous donations, we’ll be uppint our raffle revenue to prize ratio!  We should be able to achieve or at least come very close to a 50/50 ratio.  No official numbers yet as items are coming in, but I’ve got my fingers crossed and am aiming for 50/50.
