Trek Remedy 5 First Impressions

Trek Remedy 5

MtnBikeRiders.com purchased a Trek Remedy 5 to test. I took the bike to Colorado to ride some of the trails in Fruita. I’ve also ridden the bike on the local Fullerton Loop, here are some of my first impressions:

Looks:The Black matte finish is super nice, it reminds me of a stealth bomber. The carbon fiber handlebar gives it a little bit of Bling, I’m not so sure about those tires… they may have to go soon.

Going Uphill:The Remedy is not a super-climbing machine. Being over 30lbs and with 5 inches of non adjustable front travel, I had to use my body to balance the bike going uphills. I did make it all the way up on the steepest hills though, that means a lot to me since I’m not the best climber.

Going Down: I like my bikes with a plush suspension, the Trek Remedy 5 was set up perfectly for my liking. The bike gave me a lot of confidence going downhill and hitting some small jumps, the Hayes 9 performed beautifully.

I’ll be taking this bike to more technical trails, I’ll post an update later on.
