Ultimate AM Spotlight: Spinner Cargo Fork

Spinner Who? That has been the reaction to the fork that we have installed on our Ultimate AM machine. So who is Spinner?:

Spinner, the company known for its reliability and honest value for 23 years has been opening a lot of eyes recently. In the past two years, Spinner has received worldwide attention as a new leader in bicycle suspension by creating unique product offerings combining the most advanced materials available with hydraulic damping systems inspired by the automotive industry. Beginning with the SPUL Valve damping system in 2005 and followed in 2006 by the world’s lightest Cross Country Race fork, the 1.2 kg Aeris with Titanium crown, Spinner has stunned the bicycle industry with new designs that are as technologically advanced as they are beautiful and simple.

The Fork: Spinner Cargo Air TX

Specs:

* Air Spring
* One-piece Magnesium Lower 20mm
* T-Spul Valve Damping System
* Platform Switch with Threshold Fine Tuning Lockout
* 150mm Travel

* Preload Adjust
*20mm through-axle.

Pros: Fork is super adjustable. You can adjust the the travel from 110mm to 150mm by simply dialing a knob, adjustable Rebound, preload and Threshold Fine Tuning Lockout. The Threshold Fine Tuning feature is really cool, simply adjust the knob to your desired stiffness, from plush to almost locked out. Durability, so far the fork has endured jumps, small drop offs and a crash resulting on cosmetic scratches.

Cons: The Fork is a little hefty, but that is expected from a 34mm Stanchion Thru-Axle freeride fork.

My two cents:

I’m really picky when it comes to forks, I like my forks to be plush but to deliver maximum performance, the Spinner Cargo fork fits that category. I love that I don’t have to worry about picking a line when I’m going downhill, simply point and hang on for the ride. I also love that I can quickly adjust the travel to 110mm and adjust the threshold to max so I can climb hills without popping wheelies or any annoying bob. I’ve ridden forks from the top manufacturers, I can honestly say that the Spinner Cargo fork is worth looking at.
