A different kind of weight weenie

If you’re one of those guys who likes to save a gram here and there on your bike parts, you may want to pay attention. I’ve never been a weight weenie, but I do appreciate a lighter bike. But recently I’ve discovered that I can ride faster without the need of expensive and lighter bike parts, all I needed to do was drop a few pounds from my body.

For the last 2 months I’ve been participating in the Nutrisystem Program and have lost 22lbs! What was encouraging during this weight loss process was see and feeling how my riding was improving with each pound that I lost. Each week, riding my bike became easier and ultimately breathed new life to my sport.

This got me thinking, since I already have a decent bike with decent parts, there was no need to upgrade anything because there would have been no way I could shed 22lbs off my bike. Besides, wouldn’t it be easier and cheaper to just lose weight rather than spending hundreds of dollars just to save a few grams on bike parts?

So if you’re looking at that photo above and wondering how an XO derailleur could be heavier than a burger, its simple really, just think of it as losing weight (burger) out weighs the benefit of the grams you save with the bike part. I also want to add that having lost some weight, I am so much faster now. In fact, I can actually keep up with Priscilla on our rides! Yay! By the way, I’m not done losing weight. My goal is to drop an additional 28lbs.

I’ve been keeping track of my weight loss on my other blog, feel free to check it out. If you want to lose weight and get healthy on Nutrisystem? Join today by calling 1-888-853-4689
