Something to make the climb a bit easier

The other day Lady P took me to a trail that she absolutely loves. She mainly likes it for the climbs it offers, it has a 1758ft elevation gain. It has some nice views as you’re riding. But for someone like me, climbing is the last thing I want to do during a ride. As we started the trail, I’m already dropping into my granny gear just so I don’t kill myself. I already see Lady P just pedaling like crazy up this climb. There was no way I was going to keep up with her, so I decided to let her be and just do this climb on my own pace.

When it comes to listening to music while riding, I’d rather not. I normally don’t bring headphones to accompany my smart phone. However, on this day I knew I’d be in for a long climb so I decided to bring my headphones with me. Rather than listening to music, I set my I Heart Radio app to a comedy channel where it plays small snippets of comedians doing their act.

I loved listening to all the funny guys and it really made the climb so much more bearable. In fact my 60 minute climb was rather pleasant. I’m sure the people that I saw on the trail who passed me must have thought I was weird because I was laughing out loud. So the next time you have a major climb to do, try listening to a comedy channel or even a podcast. It keeps your mind off the tough task ahead of you.
