FTC Disclaimer

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued new rules that go into effect on December 1, 2009. These rules state that product reviewers on blogs such as Bikecommuters.com/MtnBikeRiders.com/Thebikegeek.com must disclose whether they received review products for free or received monetary payment for such reviews.

Periodically, the staff here at Bikecommuters.com and MtnBikeRiders.com receives “freebies” from product and clothing manufacturers; other times we simply get a short loan period to review a product and then back it goes to the manufacturer. We have never, and will never, charge for a review or accept money from a company in order to get a favorable review. We just don’t play that way.

Sometimes, we will review a product from a company that advertises on or otherwise helps sponsor our family of sites. In those cases, we make it clear to those companies that such advertising does not guarantee a favorable review. We strive to maintain objectivity – we believe that our “real world” experience with products we review is the very best way to share information about those products with our readers.
