Check out this picture. The tube on the left is a “thorn resistant tube,” the one on the right is a standard tube. One of the smartest things you can do is to have the thicker tubes. Yes they do cost a bit more, but that’s the cost of peace of mind.
Another thing you can do to beat the thorns is to have a tire liner like Mr. Tuffy combined with the thicker tube.
If you can spare the extra weight, then I’d suggest getting Slime in combination with Mr. Tuffy and the thicker tubes. Then that should at least fend off the thorns and keep you rolling!
